PhD Candidate

About

Kha Uyen Dam (Kha) is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Neurosurgery at UMass Chan Medical School. Originally from Vietnam, she moved to Boston with her family as a teenager. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry at the University of Massachusetts Boston and joined the Sirianni Laboratory in August 2023 to complete her doctoral research. Her research interests are in the areas of drug delivery to the central nervous system (CNS) via the intrathecal (IT) route.

Her current research is focused on quantifying intrathecal nanoparticle drug delivery to the CNS to target specific cell types (1) determine how shape of nanoparticles (NPs) impact parenchymal penetration following IT administration (2) investigate what surface modifications facilitate cell-specific interaction of NPs using an in vitro system.
